  • Woolwich Township to Celebrate Accomplished NHL and Canadian Team Alumni with Banner Raising Ceremony

    Woolwich, ON – On September 22nd, 2024, at 1:30 p.m., the Woolwich community is invited to attend a heartfelt ceremony to honour nine of its most distinguished members by raising an NHL Alumni Banner at the Woolwich Memorial Centre (Dan Snyder Arena). The event will celebrate the remarkable achievements and contributions of retired players whose journeys from our hometown to National and International recognition serve as an inspiration to all.

  • Grand Opening of the Breslau Grand Splash

    Woolwich, ON – Woolwich Township Officials, Breslau Lions and the Breslau Fundraising Committee will cut a ribbon to celebrate the Grand Opening of the Breslau Grand Splash. The community is invited to join us for refreshments and to embrace the joy of splashing in the water on Saturday, June 22nd between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., located at 100 Andover Drive. The ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony begins at 10:00 a.m. The Breslau Grand Splash will be open seven days a week from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. until Labour Day.

  • Township of Woolwich and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 469 Collaborate on new Monuments at the Elmira Cenotaph

    Woolwich, ON – The Elmira Cenotaph, located in Memorial Park, recently saw the installation of two new monuments which commemorates Afghanistan Veterans and Peacekeepers.  The installation of these monuments was done through joint funding; with the funding from the Royal Canadian Legion coming from their Poppy Campaign donations.

    Working together for more housing, stronger communities in Waterloo Region

    Waterloo Region – To coincide with today’s meeting of the Standing Committee on Heritage, Infrastructure and Cultural Policy’s Study on Regional Governance, as overseen by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, the Mayors of six cities and townships representing almost 80 per cent of the population of Waterloo Region, called for reforms to the current structure of local and regional government.

  • Grand Opening of the Newly Built Maryhill Fire Station

    Woolwich, ON – Woolwich Township Officials will cut the ribbon to celebrate the Grand Opening of the newly built Maryhill Fire Station. The community is invited to join us for a Community BBQ and to tour the new facility on Monday, October 23rd between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., located at 17 St. Charles Street East.  The ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony begins at 6:00 p.m.

  • Pet Oxygen Masks Now On Board

    Elmira Pet Products (EPP), a local manufacturing company specializing in the production of private label dog and cat food, is passionate about protecting the lives and safety of our furry family members.  This month, EPP delivered six pet oxygen kits, along with a training program, to Woolwich Fire Services.

  • Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada Awards Lifesaving Equipment Grant to Woolwich Township Fire

    Woolwich, ON – Woolwich Fire Services personnel are now better equipped to handle emergencies and keep Woolwich Township safe thanks to a grant from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada. The Foundation recognized our critical need and awarded $22,763 to purchase a DJI M30T Enterprise Drone with loudspeaker, spotlight, and accessories.

  • Rural Townships Lift Fire Ban – Effective Immediately

    Waterloo Region – With the recent precipitation that has been received, the Townships of North Dumfries, Wellesley, Wilmot and Woolwich are lifting the full fire ban that came into effect June 6th, 2023.

  • Rural Townships Issue Full Fire Ban – Effective Immediately

    Waterloo Region – In an effort to reduce the increased fire risk caused by continuing dry and hot weather, a full fire ban has been issued in the Townships of North Dumfries, Wellesley, Wilmot and Woolwich.

  • Rural Townships Monitoring the Dry Conditions Locally

    Waterloo Region – With the weather expected to remain dry and hot in the coming days, the Townships of North Dumfries, Wellesley, Wilmot and Woolwich will continue to monitor the dry conditions to determine if a Burn Ban is deemed necessary.
