  • Ontario to cautiously and gradually ease public health measures

    The Ontario government has released details of a cautious and gradual easing of public health measures, starting on January 31, 2022.

  • NOTICE of Woolwich Township Siren Test and Upgrades

    Woolwich, ON – The Township is providing notification to the public of upgrades and testing that will be occurring next week, January 10th – January 14th to our Siren System.  As this is the first step in working towards transitioning the township to our digital system, there is the possibility that the sirens could sound during this testing phase.  Notification is being provided to the public as this potential for the sirens to sound will be outside of the normal weekly scheduled test of the siren system, and we do not wish to cause alarm to the community.

  • Ontario temporarily moving to modified Step 2 of the Roadmap to Reopen

    Waterloo Region – In response to an increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations, the government of Ontario is moving the province to a modified version of Step Two of the Roadmap to Reopen effective Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 12:01 a.m. for at least 21 days (until January 26, 2022), subject to trends in public health and health system indicators.

  • Woolwich Township addresses the eminent concern of the Omicron Variant

    Woolwich, ON – In response to the rapidly-spreading and highly transmissible Omicron variant, effective at 12:01 a.m. on Sunday, December 19, 2021, the Ontario government is applying additional public health and workplace safety measures, including capacity and social gathering limits.  We have seen nothing like this during the pandemic so far and this is expected to place unprecedented, unmanageable strain on our health care system.  For more information on today’s announcement, visit the Province of Ontario website.

  • Municipal councils approve merger of Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro and Waterloo North Hydro

    Kitchener/Waterloo/Wellesley/Wilmot/Woolwich, Ontario, December 15, 2021 – Over the past week, the municipal councils of Kitchener, Waterloo, Wellesley, Wilmot and Woolwich approved the merger of Kitchener Power Corp. and Waterloo North Hydro Holding Corporation and their subsidiary companies Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro Inc. and Waterloo North Hydro Inc.

  • Municipal councils approve Memorandum of Understanding for proposed Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro and Waterloo North Hydro merger

    Kitchener/Waterloo/Wellesley/Wilmot/Woolwich, Ontario, October 6, 2021 – The municipal councils of Kitchener, Waterloo, Wellesley, Wilmot and Woolwich have approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) as a first step in the proposed merger of Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro and Waterloo North Hydro. The approvals, which came on October 4 and 5, follow the October 1 announcement that Kitchener Power Corporation and Waterloo North Hydro Holding Corporation are proposing a merger of the utilities.
