Woolwich Township Municipal Election Nominations are Open

Woolwich, ON – The nomination period for candidates running for municipal office opened last week and one person submitted their nomination in Woolwich Township. A list of candidates running for office is available on our website at, www.woolwich.ca/elections. If you are interested in receiving regular updates by email, you can subscribe to this page. 

Woolwich Township will continue accepting nominations for Mayor, Councillor and the English Public School Board between May 2, 2022 and August 19, 2022 at 2 pm. The Region of Waterloo is accepting nominations for Regional Chair and more information is available on our website about other offices. Anyone interested in running for office in the 2022 Municipal and School Board Elections can find more information on our website or pickup an information package with all the forms you need.

Candidates must be eligible to vote in the municipality. There are additional rules for municipal employees, judges, Members of Parliament (MP), Members of Provincial Parliament (MPP), Senators, and inmates.

To file a nomination, you will need:

1.  A nomination package (available in advance or when you file)

2.  “Endorsement of Nomination” Form 2:

• endorsed by 25 voters eligible to vote for the office before you file
• Available in the nomination package or online

3.  The nomination filing fee:

• $200.00 for Mayor, or
• $100 for all other offices

4.  Proof of identity, residence and citizenship
