Woolwich Township announces Vaccine Policy

Woolwich, ON – With the health and safety of employees and the public as the top priority, the Township of Woolwich is implementing a mandatory vaccination policy that requires staff to disclose their vaccination status by September 22, 2021. Staff who are not vaccinated, or choose not to disclose their vaccination status, will be required to undergo education on the benefits of COVID-19 vaccination, as well as participate in a rapid antigen testing program.

The policy applies to all staff, including volunteers, students and Council and the policy was developed following comprehensive research and analysis of options with the goal of protecting the safety of staff and the community.

“Council is leading by example, both by supporting this policy and by being fully vaccinated ourselves,” says Mayor Sandy Shantz. “Woolwich is a community that works together to help each other. Right now, getting vaccinated is the best way to help protect each other against COVID-19 and the Delta variant. Thank you to all our staff, volunteers and residents who have already done their part to keep our community healthy.”

The policy also builds on a number of other important safety protocols implemented at Township locations, such as the installation of Plexiglas barriers, hand-sanitizing stations, masking protocols and required daily self-screening for staff.
