Statement from the Office of the Mayor on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
Woolwich Township offers our deepest condolences to the Royal Family, to the people of Britain and all the nations of the Commonwealth, on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Her Majesty’s incredible life and devotion to service will be remembered around the world for many years to come. Her legacy as an authentic leader of strength, peace, unity and stability will be what generations of future leaders will look to aspire to. For the last seventy years, Queen Elizabeth has been a constant, steadying presence for all Canadians, and we can reflect on the love she had for her family, her country, the Commonwealth and the world. Rest in peace your Majesty.
Flags at all township buildings are at half-mast. In the coming days, as we as a country mourn the loss of our Sovereign, we will observe the guidelines set out by Heritage Canada to remember Canada’s longest-reigning monarch.
