One Month Left to Submit Nominations for the Municipal Election

Woolwich, ON – Have you been thinking of running for office and are looking to make a difference in Woolwich? Register as a candidate for the 2022 municipal election. Woolwich Township reminds you that there is only one month remaining; nominations will be taken until August 19, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.

Woolwich is currently accepting nominations for the following:

• Office of the Mayor (1 to be elected)
• Office of Ward 1 Councillor (2 to be elected)
• Office of Ward 2 Councillor (1 to be elected)
• Office of Ward 3 Councillor (2 to be elected)
• Third Party Advertisers

The Region of Waterloo is also accepting nominations for the Office of Regional Chair with the same deadline.

“If you are interested in running for the municipal election, my team is here to help” said Clerk Jeff Smith. “I want to invite anyone who has questions about being on Council or nominating yourself to reach out to me before August 19 at 2:00 p.m.”

To run for office, you must be a Canadian citizen, at least 18 years old, and reside in the local municipality, or be the owner or tenant of land in the local municipality, or the spouse, of such a person, and not be prohibited from voting.
