Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada Awards Lifesaving Equipment Grant to Woolwich Township Fire

Woolwich, ON – Woolwich Fire Services personnel are now better equipped to handle emergencies and keep Woolwich Township safe thanks to a grant from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada. The Foundation recognized our critical need and awarded $22,763 to purchase a DJI M30T Enterprise Drone with loudspeaker, spotlight, and accessories.

“We are extremely grateful to Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada and our local Firehouse Subs in Waterloo for providing us with this grant and positively impacting our community,” said Dennis Aldous, Fire Chief. “We are so grateful to be given the tools needed to continue to keep the citizens of Woolwich safe and protected.”

The drone will be used to provide another level of safety for residents and visitors of Woolwich Township by enabling firefighters to get a bird’s eye view of emergencies, such as fires, search and rescue missions, and hazardous material calls. Equipped with a high-definition and thermal imaging camera, it will give us the ability to gain information and perspective that is not possible without the aerial advantage that the drone provides. This valuable tool will also help create proactive solutions for emergency management planning and risk mitigation.

The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada has awarded 319 grants to public safety organizations since 2015. This grant is one of 13 Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada awarded to public safety organizations during the most recent grant cycle. The 13 grants will provide critical lifesaving equipment valued at more than $362,000 across Ontario.
