Asset Management

View the Township's current 2024 Asset Management Plan that was endorsed by Council on June 18, 2024.

The Township's Asset Management Plan (AMP) is a living document providing an overview of municipal asset condition, planned lifecycle activities and current service levels to manage assets in a way that aims to balance risk, cost, and service delivery for its customers. The AMP encourages evidence-based, long-term planning of municipal infrastructure that considers the lifecycle costs of assets, including planning, designing, constructing, acquiring, operating, maintaining, renewing, and disposing of assets. The AMP was developed to meet the requirements of Ontario Regulation (O. Reg.) 588/17: Asset Management Planning for Municipal Infrastructure which sets out requirements for municipal asset management planning to help municipalities better understand their infrastructure needs and inform infrastructure planning and investment decisions.

The Township is currently working towards completing the requirements of O. Reg. 588/17 for July 1, 2025, which will build on the 2024 requirements by outlining proposed levels of service, identifying what activities will be required to meet the proposed levels of service, and a financial strategy to fund these activities.

Also a requirement of O. Reg. 588/17, municipal Councils are required to approve, and if necessary update, the Strategic Asset Management Policy at least every five years. The Strategic Asset Management Policy applies to all municipally owned infrastructure assets such as roads, sidewalks, bridges, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, stormwater management systems, fleet, information technology, buildings and parks. The Policy helps the Township develop an approach to identify and prioritize investments in municipal infrastructure that aligns with the Township's Strategic Plan. The Policy also acts as a guidance document to help set asset management expectations with Council, staff and the public; identify the Township's commitment to asset management and the continuous improvement of asset management practices; and, ensure a consistent approach and outline a clear set of principles to guide the asset management program.
