Driveways, Entrances and Culverts

If you’re looking to construct a new entrance into your property or modify an existing one, you will need to apply for an Entrance Permit. The Township of Woolwich regulates the construction and maintenance of driveways and entrances. Entrance Permits must be obtained and approved by the Township prior to commencing work. Entrance Permits applications are available in person at the Township of Woolwich Administration Building or can be downloaded.

Completed forms can be sent to the Township Office by email or in-person.

Infrastructure Services Staff will contact the applicant once the application is approved and payment is ready to be made. Entrance Permits are subject to the following fees:

  • Entrance Permit Fee: $240
  • Inspection Fee: $225
  • Damage Deposit: $150 per meter of property frontage

Damage Deposits are fully refundable upon inspection by Infrastructure Services Staff.

Please note, if you are simply looking to re-pave your existing driveway, an entrance permit is not required. However, a Road Work Permit is required.

Curb Cuts

Please ensure to note any required curb cuts on the submitted Entrance Permit Application. The Township does not charge any additional fees for curb cutting. The owner/contractor is responsible for any curb cuts.

Driveway Culverts

If a driveway culvert is required for an entrance/driveway, it will be noted on the approved Entrance Permit. The property owner shall be responsible for the supply and installation of the culvert as per Township specification.

Culvert Cleanout

The Township is responsible for cleaning and flushing debris from culverts. If you have a culvert that is blocked with debris, contact the Township of Woolwich at 519-669-6046.

Regional Roads

If your entrance is on a regional road, you will be required to contact the Region of Waterloo and complete their application for an Access Permit.
